Sarah Nelson is a visual artist based out of St. Paul, MN.
Her work highlights arduous detail, and extensive color layering. She invites the viewer to come in closer, creating intimacy between her colors, pen work and her audience.
Deeply impacted by her research leading up to her solo exhibition with the Natural Heritage Project, which centered around endangered species in Minnesota and Wisconsin, her work has increasingly focused around environmental concerns.
Her current in process work features human impact on oceanic ecosystems, especially the coral reef and plastic waste in our oceans.
Commissions and collaborations have included illustrations for the Corner Table, the City Pages, Live Painting events, Dead Man Winter, Odd Bird, Five Watt Coffee, and has works in private collections around the world.
