El Yunque

A private Commission

The Story of El Yunque

January 05, 2019

I was sitting on a plane flying home from a short visit to LA. The woman next to me was not fond of flying and was becoming anxious as the plane began to move toward take off. I sparked a conversation to try and calm her, and then began drawing on my little tray to try a small and whimsical beach scene.

She turned to me asking if I ever did commissioned works. I assured her I did and asked what she had in mind. From there this large scale illustration of her favorite forest came to be.
